I'm a part of Gen-Z and I would describe my generation as tech-savvy and mobile-first. They rely heavily on their smartphones for various tasks and are constantly connected. They're also highly active on social media platforms, to connect with friends, share their lives, follow influencers, and engage with current events and trends.
I was assigned to design an editorial design for a product-oriented cookbook series aimed at Generation Z. The cookbook has 18 recipes, hence the title 00:18
So, what's the best way to grab the attention of Gen Z? Smartphones. That's how I came up with the idea of designing a cookbook that resembles an iPhone, considering that most Gen Z users are Apple enthusiasts and are familiar with Apple emojis. I opted for a calendar binding style, as it maintains the mobile phone format. Thanks to this binding, you can hold the book in your hand, lay it flat, or prop it up for easy use. Additionally, I've designed a webshop to market my book series.
